PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CANVAS
This report gives a details information about design thinking using the topic Cellulose Insulation from Waste Paper. The present project is focuses on utilizing the waste materials like waste paper into cost effective building bricks and recycle the wastepaper without any environmental problem to the surrounding environment and the society. This paper insulation is made from recycled newspaper and cardboards, superior alternative to chemical foams. Both insect resistant and fire retardant due to the inclusion of boric acid.
This report includes the AEIOU summary canvas, empathy canvas, ideation canvas and product development canvas. The summary canvas gives information about the environment, activities carried in energy production. The ideation canvas includes the situations and the objects used in sugar factory. The empathy canvas include happy and sad story which gives the advantages & disadvantages of the system.
The product development canvas gives introduction to the purpose of product development, product experience, features etc. here, product is a system which is developed and their disadvantages are solved.
This report includes the objectives of design thinking, importance of design thinking, importance of log-book. It include mind mapping, secondary research towards problem definition.
Our team consist of five members Name Patel Chirag , Patel Darsh , Patel Jenish , Patel Khushwant , Patel Raj.
According to us design thinking is a method of problem solving strategy where in the data collected is expressed visually in order to create new strategies, ways and methods to solve problems, create opportunities or strengthen weaknesses and how to work in a coordinated way to form an imaginary thing come true.
Relating to socio economic design thinking involves an explicit attempt to engage with both typical and atypical users so we develop a deeper understanding of how our solution will touch many types of users.
Working together as a team was quite difficult, new and very useful for us. As all ideas, creativity, innovation emerges together which gives us a very innovative concept. It teaches us how to work in a coordinated, disciplinary way and how to interact with people. The concept of Log book by GTU was very useful for us in order to remind, noting the important points, features and observation which reflect our hard-work towards the subject.
We thought about some problems that can come in Society and tried to manage those problems with some ideas which are painted on the canvas. Some users that do not relate to the prevailing system are also considered in our system and referred on project.
Our team assigned the work of innovating something under the newly designed syllabus of design Engineering-1A and on it and we were supposed to make five sheets named as A,E,I,O,U sheets where;
A: Activity sheet
E: Environment sheet
I: Interaction sheet
O: Object sheet
U: User sheet
1.1 LOG BOOK AND ITS IMPORTANCE
A log book (or a simple book) is a record of an important events in the management, operation and navigation over project .The logbook enables us for work to be repeated for re-evaluation of the reported result. The steps that lead to success or failure of large project can be extracted. This exercise will ensure to some extent the novelty of idea as well as enables us to understand ongoing work in the field and relevant to over work.
2.1 Observation through AEIOU and other methods.
Interview techniques shows the type of questions that are asked for knowing the system thoroughly. The question can be related to the system or about the domain area of the system. Knowing the perfect answer of those question can greatly be beneficial for the system even the known and unknown facts to be implemented on the system which can make the system perfect on its basis.
2.2 Role playing
OWNER :He is responsible for the success and failure of the company.
EMPYLOEE : people working in the production management system.
MANUFACTURING PEOPLE : people involved in manufacturing process.
GO DOWN OWNERS : they look after the storage of the goods.
CUSTOMERS : they are the main users of the manufactured products.
2.3 Interview Technique
Sometimes there are problems faced by the system and its people when it comes to be an active part of the system, which can be the best part to solve all problems related to it, and would result in the best thing. Thus, for the system to be perfect, one must offer many observations. The observations are done by various techniques like questionnaires, interview etc.
After performing the questionnaires round, we get the strong point that what should the system be? What types of products should be added? Which person should be kept active according to the session? What type of modules need changes? How can the authentication be provided to the people?
After performing this analysis, we get the only solutions that are to be made active and to be executed.
2.4 Mind Mapping(Data analysis).
A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. A mind map often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center of the blank landscape page, to which associated representation of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected directly to the central concepts, and other ideas branch out from those.
A mind map is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is a visual thinking tool that helps structuring information, helping you to analyze, comprehend, synthesize, recall and generate new ideas in a constructive way.
2.5 AEIOU Summary frame work.
A (Activities), E (Environment), I (Interactions), O (Objects), U (Users). One of our principal analytic frameworks for looking at and understanding a situation is the A-E-I-O-U framework. What is important is not only understanding and describing each element of the framework, but also understanding the interactions between the elements.
2.1 A – Activities.
The activities are designed to give the solution of various problems related to over domain. These activities are goal directed and these are the modes people work in and wants these activities to be carried out properly and efficiently.
Cultural ProgrammsExperts talk
Awareness programmes2.2- E = Environment
Environment includes the entire arena where activities take place. Environment can be observe by asking certain questions like – What is the character and function of the space overall, of each individual’s spaces and of shared spaces.
Neat ; clean
2.3 I- Interaction
Interactions are between a person and someone or something else; they are the building blocks of activities. Interactions can be observed by asking certain questions like – What is the nature of routine and special interactions between people, between people and object in their environment and across distances. We interaction with :Students
2.4. O- Objects
Objects can be observed by asking certain questions like. What are the objects and devices people have in their environments and how do they relate to their activities?
We have noted objects related problem such as:
Users are the people whose behaviours, preferences and needs are being observed. User can be observed by asking certain questions like who is there, what are their roles and relationships? What are their values and prejudices?
Some Users we saw there :29622755651500students
.drivers2(B).A-E-I-O-U SUMMARY SHEET
In AEIOU summary sheet we have summarize all the elements that we have done in the AEIOU sheets. All the functions are summarizing into one sheet.

The Stakeholders are,
In activities we have notified:
3.4 STORY BOARDING :In the story boarding we have notified two happy stories and two sad stories :HAPPY STORY :the students gets proper knowledge of his field in collage.they can develop their own personality which is very useful in ral world like industries and other places and also can he/she can deal with the real problems of engineering and industries.
39624056642000Otherthan gaining only knowledge he can participate in collage, hence he can participate in different activities;other than studies, like sports, dance and technical festival also
SAD STORY :Collage is the place where most students take it wrong way.they can do anything which led them to wrong track also.
In collage when students are engaged with the real world but due to courage find it difficult to maintain.some student don’t like to wear uniforms in collage.
4. Ideation canvas:
This section has activities of all the people mentioned above in the “people” section in the ideation canvas.
In the above two section, we found people and what all various activities they perform. In this section, we need to find in which situations do they do this activities which means we need ask question when? Then we need to find correct i.e. the questions like why and how needs to be answered. That is, why and how this activity happens, that is which location. Then following table shows of the examples with the thoughts process behind the post-it’s of this section which are shown above. This was most amazing sections.
4.4 Props/Possible Solutions:
Props are the keywords which may flash in our mind by thinking of the some issues which may occur by combining randomly’people’, ‘activities’,and ‘situation/context/location’ sections in the ideation canvas. ‘Props’ are the keywords which may issues/problems or solution keyword.
5. Product development canvas
*This canvas consists of product development details. They are as follows…
There are some purposes for which we implement the product management system. The purpose are listed below,
The main purpose is to provide a common platform to all the people to interact with other person or salesperson with the trending styles.
The purpose of our production system is to sell user-friendly and good quality products to our customers.
Also its purpose is to maintain and update the database of the stock, user accounts, etc. and update them at regular intervals.
In Product development canvas we need to specify the key user of our
system. The system has main 5 key users. They are :-
Customers are the main users of the products produced by the product management system. Department headsof various departments use their leadership and management skills and guide and motivate the workers working their department to work efficiently.
Godown owners store the stock in their godowns and then after labelling the products with barcodes, they distribute the products to different franchises.
Cashier is the person who interacts with customers on daily basis for solving queries and handling daily, weekly and monthly report of transactions.
Company owner is the person who organizes, operates and assumes the risk for a business venture.
5.3 Product Experience:-center206623
In this section we write the Experience of a person’s emotions and attitudes about using a particular product, system or service. Another experience of user is user friendly, it means that the user can easily use the system because of its user friendly interface. He/she should feel stress free and can be free from feeling of confusion when it comes to solution of any problem.
5.4 Product Function:
5.5 Product Features:
874643520369The Product management system provides features that are very useful to these user..5.6 Product Components:
In this process we are using this type of component.
All the observation and ideas are conveyed in mind mapping give below:
Theoretically we can extract caffeine from the used tea leaves by Liquid Extraction. By using solvent Dichloromethane ,calcium carbonate & magnesium sulphate. The economy can be increased by applying insulating material on vessels and by natural circulation.
??Cellulose insulation is often made by hammer milling waste newspaper. The newspaper is treated with chemicals, such as boric acid, to retard the spread of fire.
??The thermal performance of loose filled cellulose compares favorably to other types of low cost insulation, but is lower than that of polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams.
Insulation reduces sound travelling through walls and between floor levels. Cellulose provides mass and damping.
??This reduces noise in 2 ways; it reduces the lateral movement of sheetrock and attenuates the passage of sound along cavities. Cellulose is approximately three times denser than fiberglass, providing a slight improvement in sound reduction.
