“Veganism: a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose” (Vegan Society). There are three reasons people decide to become vegan, health, ethics, and ecology. Veganism is often thought of a type of diet; considered to leave out the animal based food and products. ADD two more sentences to this so basically sum up the intro
Veganism is becoming more and more popular, studies show that 1% of the population which is about 2.5 million people, consider themselves vegan. Studies show that in every 10 people there is someone that is either vegan or vegetarian, or has been one in the past. Although, the 1% is vegan, research shows that 33% of the population are meat-less eaters. Including vegetarians and people who casually skip the meat in their daily diets. This causes for an up rise of support from vegans that fight for the helpless animals that have no say in what happens to them. Many vegans raise the question: How is it unethical to kill a helpless dog, but not a just as helpless pig? Many organizations like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, commonly known as PETA (PETA), help towards the fight to lessoning the terrible treatment of those animals.
As talked about in my thesis, health is another reason people tend to steer towards veganism. The vegan diet naturally contains the saturated fats, cholesterol, calorie, and plenty more components to a healthier life style. Just by cutting down on saturated fat, you can improve your health an insane amount, especially your cardiovascular health.
